The Google Play Store is testing a new storage tracking tool called My Apps according to Android Police. The feature monitors how much space your apps are taking up on your device.

The feature's reach is limited for now, but here's how to find the tool when it's fully live:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap the Settings hamburger in the search bar.
  3. Tap My Apps and Games.
  4. Tap Installed.

The section will display all the apps installed on your phone. If My Apps is on your device, you'll have a storage tracking bar displaying the device space percentage used, and the GB remaining.

If you see that your storage is running low, you can find out which apps you don't use frequently in the Installed tab. If you tap the little bars on the right side of the screen, you can sort your apps alphabetically, last updated, size, or last used.

Tapping Last Used will show which apps you use frequently, or ones that you don't. You can decide how to clean up your device from there.

In the meantime, if you're curious about how your device is faring there are a few options available now.

In Settings, users can find the Storage tab. Some Android devices will be more advanced in the analysis, like the newer Pixel phones. In the Storage tab, you can view how much space is free on your device and explore what programs are taking up the most storage.

Some Android devices may have the option to free up space. The device will search out old photos, downloads, or apps you haven't used, giving you the option to delete them.

Files by Google is another handy app to keep unnecessary items from bogging down your device.

The app's display is similar to a built-in storage tracker. Files by Google gives a quick overview of what's on your smartphone, what you haven't used in a long time, junk or duplicate files, and ways to back up your files.
